YCF – A glitter filled weekend!

Yesterday I arrived home from a very busy weekend at the Young Carers Festival, which is held every year at Fairthorne Manor. It’s an amazing festival where young carers from all over the country get to have a weekend having fun and being themselves in a beautiful setting. On Saturday I ran a workshop making medals out of felt and buttons – these young people are so fantastic I wanted them to make awards for themselves. Lots of them made medals for their parents or siblings as well.

We cut out lots of felt circles ready for the medals.

The table looked like this minutes after we started!

Just a few of the lovely medals that were made.

When I wasn’t knee deep in felt and buttons I was in the kitchen, helping to serve nearly 5,000 meals over the weekend! A massive thank you to Matt and Jamie who helped out with the medal making. This really is a great event to be part of, if you are interested in volunteering or running a workshop next year, please email claire.percival@ymca-fg.org.

Wow it looks very creative and such a brilliant cause to help………..i support carers from mental health field and do some relaxation days but i love the idea of them making an award for themselves……… carers don’t get much help or recognition so these events are so important for them so they can have a little bit of them time xx
